    What the company does

TD Group, through its wholly-owned subsidiary TransDigm Inc., designs, produces and supplies highly engineered aircraft components that the filing describes as critical to the safe and effective operation of nearly all commercial and military aircraft worldwide. It estimates that approximately 90% of net sales in fiscal year 2025 came from proprietary products. The businesses are organised and managed in three reporting segments: Power & Control, Airframe and Non-aviation.

    The aftermarket tail

Once a part is designed into and sold on a new aircraft, the company earns from aftermarket consumption over that aircraft's life, generally estimated at approximately 25 to 30 years; a typical platform can be produced for 20 to 30 years, which the company puts together as a product life cycle in excess of 50 years. It estimates that approximately 55% of net sales in fiscal year 2025 came from the aftermarket, the vast majority of that from the commercial and military aftermarkets, and reports that aftermarket sales have historically carried a higher gross profit and been more stable than sales to original equipment manufacturers. Alongside that sits a selective acquisition strategy aimed at proprietary commercial aerospace component businesses with aftermarket content; since the company began in 1993 it has acquired 95 businesses and various product lines.
