What the company does
Guidewire makes software for property and casualty (P&C) insurers, from global carriers to regional and local providers. Founded in 2001, it sells core systems that run product definition, pricing and rating, underwriting, policy administration, billing and claims management, delivered as cloud subscriptions on its own Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP), which is hosted on Amazon Web Services. Around those core systems it sells digital engagement, data, analytics and AI products, and it localizes its products for different regulations, languages and currencies.
The core products
InsuranceSuite is made up mainly of five applications, PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, PricingCenter and UnderwritingCenter, which insurers can subscribe to separately or together. The company states that most new sales and implementations are for InsuranceSuite. InsuranceNow is a single bundled cloud service with policy administration, claims and billing, available only in the United States and Canada and generally suited to mid-market carriers and managing general agents. Add-on applications include Rating Management, Reinsurance Management, Client Data Management, Advanced Product Designer and ProNavigator, an AI assistant built into select applications that answers questions from insurer-approved documents inside underwriting, claims and billing workflows.
