What the company does
SS&C Technologies Holdings, Inc. provides software and software-enabled services to clients in the financial services and healthcare industries. It was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Windsor, Connecticut. The company has more than 100 offices in 35 countries and more than 23,000 clients. It describes itself as the world's leading hedge fund and private equity administrator and mutual fund transfer agent. It owns and operates its technology stack, which covers securities accounting, front-to-back-office operations, performance and risk analytics, regulatory reporting and healthcare information processes.
How it makes money
SS&C reports two revenue sources. Software-enabled services are generally sold under contracts with initial terms of one to five years. They carry monthly or quarterly payments and renew automatically each year unless either party ends them.
Pricing scales with factors such as clients' assets under management, the complexity of asset classes, the number of accounts, transaction volumes, and the number of medical and pharmacy claims. The company also licenses software on perpetual or term terms and sells annually renewable maintenance. Professional services, such as installation and data conversion, were 2% of total revenues. SS&C reports average revenue retention above 95% in each of the last five years on software-enabled services and on maintenance and term licenses for its core enterprise products.
What it sells
- Fund administration: SS&C GlobeOp handles fund accounting, net asset value calculations, tax and regulatory reporting, and investor services for hedge funds, private equity and other fund types. - Transfer agency: Global Investor and Distribution Solutions serves investors in countries including the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Luxembourg, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. SS&C Retirement Solutions supports organizations representing more than 12 million participants and approximately 400,000 plan sponsors. - Funds network: Calastone connects asset managers, distributors, platforms, transfer agents and custodians for automated fund transaction processing. - Virtual data rooms: Intralinks supports mergers and acquisitions, alternative investments and capital markets deals. - Investment software: Products include Black Diamond, Geneva, Advent Portfolio Exchange, Eze order and execution management, and the FIXLink network, which has participants in more than 80 countries. - Automation and AI: Blue Prism offers robotic process automation, AI agents and the SS&C AI Gateway governance platform.
Clients can take the software on premise, in the cloud, hosted, or as a multi-tenant or dedicated application. SS&C also runs its own data centers and a private cloud.
Healthcare
SS&C Health serves health plans and pharmacy benefit managers. Its offerings include medical and pharmacy claims processing on the DomaniRx platform, care management, population health analytics and member engagement tools. During the year it processed over 600 million claims across Commercial, Exchange, Medicare and Medicaid markets. Commercial models include full service outsourcing, SaaS, lift outs and joint ventures. The company says it is not owned or controlled by any health plan or pharmacy benefit manager.
Who buys from it
Financial services clients include banks, hedge funds, private equity funds, family offices, asset managers, insurers, pension funds, brokers and dealers, and lenders. Healthcare clients include health insurers, health plans and benefits administrators. In 2025, 67% of revenues came from clients in the United States and 33% from clients outside it.
How it competes
The company describes its markets as fragmented, with large firms, local specialists and clients' own IT departments all competing. In fund administration they include State Street, BNY Mellon, Northern Trust and CITCO Group. In virtual data rooms they include Datasite and Donnelly Financial Solutions. In intelligent automation they include Microsoft, Pega, UiPath and Appian. The filing acknowledges that some competitors have greater financial, technical, distribution and marketing resources.
SS&C points to owning its source code, using its own software to deliver services, and its independence from banks and health plans as its advantages. It also runs its own automation tools inside its operations, which it calls its Customer Zero program.
Acquisitions
SS&C has acquired 70 businesses since 1995 and says it uses acquisitions to add products, clients and geographic reach. The most recent are Calastone Limited in October 2025 and Curo Fund Services in November 2025. Curo adds fund administration in South Africa and across the African continent.
Its people
As of 31 December 2025, SS&C had approximately 28,800 full-time employees, including approximately 17,800 in its international operations. Sales are made through a direct sales organization with staff in offices worldwide.
