What the company said with its results
From the third quarter of fiscal 2026 results, filed 28 October 2026.
- Net sales rose 3%. Net sales reached $1,291.1 million against $1,258.2 million a year earlier, with acquisitions contributing to the increase.
- Organic Daily Sales fell 1%. Lower sales volume and continued softness in underlying market demand more than offset higher price inflation, according to management.
- Adjusted EBITDA rose 8%. Adjusted EBITDA reached $138.3 million, with margin up 60 basis points to 10.7%.
- Diluted EPS rose to $1.46. Diluted EPS was $1.46 for the quarter against $1.31 a year earlier; nine-month diluted EPS was $3.98 against $3.56.
- Residential and repair declined. Declines in new residential construction and repair and upgrade were more than offset by maintenance and new commercial construction, which management described as more resilient.
- Weather delayed fall applications. A delay in fall applications from hot and dry weather more than offset higher price inflation, according to management.
- October sales growth near 2%. Organic Daily Sales growth in October is running at approximately 2%, after the weather-related delay in the quarter.
- Gross margin rose 80 basis points. Gross margin reached 35.5%, driven by price realization including fuel surcharges and the commercial initiatives.
- SG&A ratio rose 20 basis points. SG&A reached 28.6% of Net sales, with higher fuel and healthcare cost and lower volume partly offset by operational initiatives and cost control.
- Workforce cuts and branch closures planned. Management plans workforce reductions and branch consolidation or closure in the fourth quarter to reduce SG&A.
- Cost structure changes under way. Management said it is managing SG&A tightly and making changes to optimize the cost structure.
- Full-year Organic Daily Sales lowered. Full-year Organic Daily Sales growth is now expected flat to down 1%, with the extra week in December a negative factor.
- Full-year Adjusted EBITDA range narrowed. Full-year Adjusted EBITDA is expected between $425 million and $440 million, with the upper end reduced from $455 million.
- 53rd week reduces full-year growth. The extra week falls in December, a historically slower sales period, and is expected to reduce full-year growth and Adjusted EBITDA.

What the company does
SiteOne Landscape Supply is a wholesale distributor of landscape supplies in the United States, with an established presence in Canada. The company describes itself as the largest and only national full product line wholesale distributor of landscape supplies in the United States. As of 28 December 2025 it had over 670 branch locations in 45 states and five Canadian provinces. It offers approximately 180,000 SKUs from approximately 6,000 suppliers and sells to a customer base of more than 440,000 firms and individuals. It employed approximately 8,200 associates and manages its business as a single reportable segment.
What it sells
The product range covers hardscapes (pavers, natural stone, blocks), irrigation supplies, fertilizer and control products such as herbicides, landscape accessories, nursery goods, outdoor lighting and ice melt. Landscape accessories include mulches, soil amendments, drainage pipe, tools and sod. Nursery goods include shrubs, trees, roses, perennials, annuals and bulbs. Fertilizer and control products are tied to the maintenance end market, while the filing links hardscapes and outdoor lighting to the "outdoor living" trend.
Alongside products, the company offers consultative services. These include irrigation project take-offs, commercial project planning, sales leads and product support. It also runs a series of technical and business management seminars called SiteOne University. Many local staff are former landscape contractors or golf course superintendents.
Its own brands
Proprietary brands made up approximately 15% of sales, most of it from LESCO®. LESCO® covers fertilizer, combination products, control products, turf seed, application equipment and specialty chemicals, and is sold through branches and retail outlets. Pro-Trade® offers professional-grade landscape lighting, synthetic turf, irrigation and landscape supplies. Solstice® is a line of imported natural stone launched in 2024. SiteOne Green Tech® provides pre-packaged water management and irrigation solutions. Portfolio® is a line of plant varieties with over 250 unique items. Pro-Trade®, Solstice® and Portfolio® are sold exclusively through branches and the company website.
Who buys from it
Customers are mainly residential and commercial landscape professionals who design, install and maintain lawns, gardens, golf courses and other outdoor spaces. The typical customer is a private landscape contractor working in a single market, and most buy on an as-needed basis. The top 10 customers together made up less than 4% of sales, and no single customer exceeded 2%. Named large customers include BrightView, Weed Man, Juniper Landscaping and Davey Tree.
By purchase size, small customers accounted for 23% of sales, medium customers for 29% and large customers for 48%. By construction sector, 60% of sales came from residential, 32% from commercial (including institutional) and 8% from recreational and other. By end market, 36% related to maintenance, 34% to new construction and 30% to repair and upgrade. The Partners Program, a loyalty program, had approximately 62,000 enrolled customers, and its participants accounted for approximately 62% of sales.
How products reach customers
The company uses two distribution models. Branches are the core of operations and hold local stock in the quantities contractors need. Branches carrying the full product line add yards of 5 to 30 acres for hardscapes and nursery goods. A fleet of over 2,600 delivery vehicles serves customers. Direct distribution moves bulk orders from suppliers to job sites, typically without the company holding inventory, and accounted for approximately 7% of sales.
The branches and approximately 630 outside sales representatives are organised into 39 areas, each led by an Area Manager. A national account team covers the largest customers across nine market verticals. Purchases are made mostly through purchase orders. Annual supplier agreements often include volume-based incentives. The top 10 suppliers, which include Hunter Industries, Rain Bird, Oldcastle and Toro, made up approximately 30% of purchases.
Where it stands in the market
The company calls the wholesale landscape supply industry highly fragmented, and estimates that regional and local competitors hold approximately 81% of it. It names Heritage Landscape Supply Group, Ewing, Target Specialty Products and Horizon Distributors among its largest competitors. It gives location, availability of materials, technical knowledge, delivery, pricing and credit as the main competitive factors.
The business traces to Deere & Company's acquisitions of McGinnis Farms and Century Rain Aid in 2001, United Green Mark in 2005 and LESCO in 2007. An affiliate of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice bought a 60% interest in December 2013, and the company completed its initial public offering on 17 May 2016. Acquisitions continue: 15 since the start of the 2024 Fiscal Year, mostly nursery and hardscapes distributors. The company has branches in approximately 50% of the 387 metropolitan statistical areas in the United States. It offers its full product line in approximately 30% of those where it has a branch.
Sales and earnings are seasonal and are higher in the second and third quarters. Weather such as snow, wet conditions and hurricanes affects demand for products like fertilizer and ice melt.
Its people
Approximately 93% of associates work full-time and year-round, and the count included approximately 450 seasonal associates. None are affiliated with labor unions. Each branch has a designated Safety Champion. Training includes certification programs and leadership training, and the company runs engagement surveys and several voluntary Associate Resource Groups.
