What the company does
Helios Technologies designs and manufactures motion control and electronic controls technology. The company calls itself a global leader in this field and serves end markets that include construction, material handling, agriculture, industrial, mobile, energy, recreational vehicles, marine, aerospace, and health and wellness. It operates two segments, Hydraulics and Electronics, and Hydraulics made up 64% of sales in 2025. Helios employed over 2,300 people worldwide at the end of fiscal 2025 and manufactures in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Germany, South Korea, China and India. Its executive offices are in Sarasota, Florida.
How the business is organised
The Hydraulics segment designs and manufactures hydraulic motion control and fluid conveyance technology products, including cartridge valves, manifolds and quick release couplings. It also engineers complete hydraulic system solutions. Its brands are Sun Hydraulics, Faster, NEM, Taimi, Daman and Schultes.
The Electronics segment designs and manufactures customized electronic controls systems, displays, wire harnesses and software solutions. Its brands are Enovation Controls, Murphy, Zero Off, HCT, Balboa Water Group, Joyonway, i3PD and Cygnus Reach.
On 27 September 2025 the company sold Guwing Holdings Pty. Ltd. and its subsidiary Custom Fluidpower Pty. Ltd., a hydraulics business in the Asia-Pacific region.
What it sells
Helios groups its hydraulic products into motion control technology, which controls the flow and pressure of fluids, and fluid conveyance technology, which moves fluids and fluid power through a system. The Sun cartridge valve uses a floating nose construction that gives it a self-alignment characteristic. The ecoline family is aimed at the energy efficiency of hydraulic systems. The ENERGEN line is described as the first hydraulic cartridge valve able to convert hydraulic flow into electrical power. The Faster brand makes quick release couplings, including the MultiFaster line, which connects several hydraulic lines at once. The Taimi brand makes a swivel hose line accessory used in mining, forestry equipment and sailing.
In Electronics, the company makes displays, controllers, gauges, instrumentation, engineered panels, printed circuit board assemblies, wiring harnesses and custom software. The PowerView and OpenView display lines let customers specify custom software and graphics. OpenView displays use an open source Linux-based operating system. Balboa Water Group and Joyonway supply control systems for therapy baths, cold plunges, hot tubs and swim spas.
Two acquisitions in 2023 added Schultes, which makes precision machined components, and i3PD, a custom engineering services firm.
Who it sells to
No single customer made up 10% or more of consolidated net sales in 2025. About 150 direct sales and application specialists serve customers across the two segments.
- Hydraulics: About 55% of segment sales go through channel partners, who combine Helios products with other hydraulic components. The other 45% go directly to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). By region, 40% of segment sales were to the Americas, 31% to Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and 29% to Asia Pacific (APAC). - Electronics: OEMs accounted for 78% of segment sales, and about 22% came through independent authorized distributors. By region, 79% of segment sales were in the Americas, 10% in EMEA and 11% in APAC.
Exports from United States locations go to more than 40 countries.
Where it makes things
Under it, manufacturing and supply chains are placed close to customers to shorten lead times and reduce inventory.
Hydraulics operations use precision machining, finishing, heat treatment and testing, and apply Lean Six Sigma practices. Some manifold and integrated package assembly has moved to Roncolo, Italy, and some turning operations to Rivolta, Italy.
Electronics lines use high speed surface mount technology, 3D solder paste inspection, 3D automated optical inspection and x-ray inspection. Products are serialized, and test data is stored against serial numbers for traceability. The Tijuana, Mexico facility supports Electronics, with initial work on circuit board assembly and wire harness production. A third-party provider supports approximately 500 jobs in Mexico.
How it competes
The company sorts hydraulics competitors into three groups. Full-line producers, such as Parker Hannifin, Danfoss/Eaton and Bosch Rexroth/HydraForce, supply complete systems. Component-only producers include Delta Power Company, Stucchi and CEJN. Low-cost producers include Winner and Valvole Italia. Helios says it competes on quality, reliability, value, speed of delivery and technological characteristics.
In electronics, competitors range from large companies such as Continental, Garmin and Bosch to small niche firms. The company describes Enovation Controls as a niche player in displays, controllers, gauges and instrumentation panels, and Balboa Water Group as a niche player in control and water flow systems for health and wellness. It describes Balboa Water Group, including Joyonway, as the largest supplier of integrated end-to-end solutions for the therapy and wellness spa and bath markets. Helios points to up-front engineering and programming costs as barriers to customers switching suppliers.
The company owns approximately 300 active patents and trademarks, and says its business does not depend on any single one.
Its people
Of the employees, 56% are in the Americas, 28% in EMEA and 16% in APAC. In Italy, approximately 575 employees are represented by a labor union. The Leadership Academy is a six-month program, and each cohort has approximately 25 leaders from across the company's global operations. In 2025, 100% of global employees completed the Helios Global Code of Conduct.
