What the company does
Lionsgate Studios Corp. produces and distributes motion pictures and television programming, and its shares trade on the NYSE under the symbol LION. It reports two segments, Motion Picture and Television Production, and exploits a library of more than 20,000 motion picture titles and television episodes and programs. The company was organised under the laws of the Province of British Columbia on 10 January 2024 as Lionsgate Studios Holding Corp. It took its current name on 6 May 2025 in connection with the Starz Separation, which left the STARZ business with a separate company, Starz Entertainment Corp. As of 21 May 2026 it had 916 full-time employees worldwide.
How the business is organised
Motion Picture accounts for 60.8% of consolidated revenues and Television Production for 39.2%. Within Motion Picture, revenue comes from home entertainment (44.1%), international (28.3%), television (14.0%), theatrical (10.9%) and other sources (2.7%). Within Television Production, it comes from television (49.5%), international (25.1%), home entertainment (16.7%) and other sources (8.7%). None of the non-United States countries individually made up more than 10% of total revenues.
Films
In the United States the company distributes its films directly to theatres, and under its terms with exhibitors it receives a percentage of the box office results. It released 24 films theatrically in the United States in the year, counting those from Roadside Attractions, in which it owns a 43% equity interest. That count leaves out 29 day-and-date and multi-platform titles.
Home entertainment covers DVDs, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD discs sold to wholesalers and retailers, plus digital sale and rental. Physical distribution and fulfilment services are substantially licensed to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The company also owns and operates 52 free, ad-supported streaming channels.
International sales are run from London. The company self-distributes in the United Kingdom and Ireland through Lionsgate UK. It licenses rights territory by territory elsewhere, keeps an output arrangement in France, and uses International Distribution Company in Latin America and Cineplex for theatrical rights in Canada. To limit production risk, it may co-finance, pre-license international rights, tie talent pay to a film's results, and use tax credits and other production incentives.
Television
The company develops, produces, syndicates and distributes television programming. It currently produces, syndicates and distributes more than 75 television shows on more than 40 networks. Buyers include broadcast networks, pay and basic cable networks, digital platforms and syndicators, who pay in cash or by barter. After the first showing, programmes are sold again to later domestic and international buyers.
Beyond films and television
The Global Products and Experiences division licenses and builds on the company's properties through live stage shows, games, location-based attractions and consumer products. Examples include John Wick, The Hunger Games, Twilight and SAW. The company also manages music for its film and television slates and licenses content to non-theatrical venues such as airlines, hotels and military bases.
It holds an interest in 3 Arts Entertainment, a talent management and production company. 3 Arts earns commissions from representing directors, writers, showrunners and actors. It also earns executive producer fees on shows including The Office and Parks & Recreation.
Who it sells to and who it competes with
The company competes with major studios, independent film and television producers, television networks, pay television services and digital platforms. The competition covers acquiring literary and film properties, hiring creative personnel, and securing production financing. Its films and shows also compete for audiences and exhibition outlets with content released by others.
Its people
The company also uses many consultants and hires additional staff project by project for its productions. It runs internship programmes and employee resource groups, and Lionshares, a volunteer programme that partners employees with charitable organisations. It trains employees each year on anti-harassment, IT security and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
